Any student studying at a University or College in Nairobi, who can certify that:

  • he/she is currently enrolled as a student and is taking one or more courses.
  • he/she is registered to take classes the following semester.
  • he/she has not been convicted of any offenses that are punishable by the laws of Kenya.

Of course! If availability at the time of reservation allows, you can both book the same room type, in the same building. When making your reservation, you can alert our Customer Service team on the same so we can match the bookings together and process as a joint application.

No, there is no curfew. Our residences have 24-hour front entrance security and residents can enter with their Qwetu Access Card whenever they please. However, most residences within Nairobi City have quiet hours from 10pm-8am. During final exams, we may have 24-hour quiet hours in effect.

Qwetu prioritizes the safety of its residents. There is secure biometric access to the buildings and exclusive access to students’ rooms with their keycards. 24 hrs surveillance system, fire alarm system, and 24/7 safety and security team are always available ready to respond to any incident.

A Qwetu room is a basic student-style furnished room with a regular double bed divan with a mattress, wardrobe, desk with chair, pair of curtains with sheers, Cable Free-to-Air (premium service is not included), Free WI-FI, water, a modern kitchenette fitted with an induction cooker, a microwave, and a 7CUFT refrigerator. The building’s facilities include Free Wi-Fi, a gym, social lounges, terraces with great views and laundry facilities (laundry cost is not included) and 24-hour security. Our onsite Customer Experience staff is on call 24/7 for emergencies. Every month, our residents plan several free and low-cost activities which you are more than welcome to attend.

For us, your security comes first above everything else. Qwetu is committed to providing a safe and secure environment where students can comfortably live and pursue their studies. All our residences are equipped with state-of-the-art security systems. We have CCTV camera networks, biometric access gates, a 24/7 security team at each residence and a rapid response team, in case of emergencies. No, we do not offer meal plans as we are not an on-campus housing. However, all Qwetu residences have a feature-modern kitchenette within each studio unit (cooking supplies not provided). In addition, every Qwetu residence features convenience retail outlets on the ground floor. These include a minimart, pharmacy, financial services outlet, a fast-food restaurant, etc. We also offer a variety of discounts on deals with the retail outlets, local shops and restaurants.

Please note that Qwetu does not provide towels/linen, kitchenware or housekeeping and you will be required to check in with these items. Outside furniture is prohibited in the residence to ensure fire safety and cleanliness of the rooms. Our beds differ with the room type you choose. You can confirm the same with our customer service reps.

You don’t have to move your belongings out during the Christmas or Easter holidays. You can choose to stay in your property over these holidays if you want or pay for the room in absentia.

You will find most of the information you need to start planning your life at Qwetu in the FAQ under 'Rooms'. You will also receive communication from the Customer Service team providing you with all of the information you need.

An applicant needs to provide a valid current ID (either a national ID for Kenyans or a Passport for non-Kenyans), a copy of a recent photo and a completed Booking Form, which is found on www.qwetu.co.ke.

You will receive an email with details from the onsite Customer Experience team at least two weeks prior to check-in. At check-in, you will need to show a valid government-issued photo ID which can either be a national ID or a driver's license. Non-Kenyan persons MUST present a passport.

Yes, a deposit is needed.

Every Qwetu Student Residence has a different location, room types, facility packages and other value-added services. So naturally, the rent for each varies accordingly. Rates start from KES 12,000 a month. You can also get to explore our Property Residences pages on; www.qwetu.co.ke. For more information on room types, our Customer Service team is more than happy to assist you. You can also visit the property to see for yourself the different room types we have on offer or call 0800 730 333 at no charge.

You can pay via M-PESA Pay Bill directly to the property. We also accept direct debit on all major credit cards. Please note that Qwetu does not accept cash at any of our properties or personal checks. Cash payments can only be made by depositing into the property bank account.

Due to the high demand of our student residences, we highly encourage you to make a reservation early and join our waiting list to be assured of a room. You can do this by selecting the Request a Call Back option or calling us directly for free on 0800 730 333. Our customer service team will then assist you in making your booking and joining our waiting list for a room.

When making a reservation, there will be a refundable deposit equivalent to one month’s rent. Once a room is available, the Contact Center team will contact you to confirm your check-in date and guide you on the balance of payment to complete the room allocation process.

Yes. Qwetu Ruaraka and Jogoo Road have buses that transport students to and from their respective universities.
